Game overview

STATUS: PROTOTYPEThis game is a draft of a concept I had long ago.

It is not commercial quality, but thrown together in a few nights with App Inventor. I posted it hastily in 2017 to easily share updates with a few friends.

Solve random mazes while seeing only one cell at a time. Simply drag your character in the direction you want to go. Crossed pathways will be marked. Find the bucket, fill it at the well, and extinguish the dragon's flame to get the key. Then exit the gate to try the next level. Difficulty increases with maze size, ranging from 3x3 to 12x12.

Score is multiplied by maze size and exploration. It is divided by time, backtracking, and map use. The more challenging you play, the higher your reward. High scores are synchronized on-line.

This game aspires to provide intense mental challenge with super-simple graphics and premise. Quick gameplay and repeatability provides brief adventuring anytime, anywhere. Remember everything you've seen, build the map in your mind, and route efficiently.

If others like the idea, that would be great, but I doubt it. Even if the rudimentary blocks were replaced with real graphics, the gameplay is both daunting and monotonous. Many may find it claustrophobic and frustrating.

I still love it, though. If you are mesmerized by imagining a maze from the least visual information, then you may love it too. (But, you will probably hate it.)
